Negative equity affects 827,000 households lenders warn

Home sellers cut asking prices for first time in 2011

People trying to sell their homes have dropped their asking prices for the first time this year.The research finds that asking prices dropped by 1.6% this month, or £3,797 on average per property.

UK house prices kept falling in England and Wales official figures show

UK house prices kept falling in England and Wales according to the Land Registry.
The Land Registry’s latest monthly survey- for May, shows that prices dropped by 0.4% that month to push them 2.2% lower than a year ago.

The fall in prices means the average property in England and Wales is now worth £161,823.

Housing repossession hotspots revealed

60 repossession hotspots are revealed in a report by housing charity Shelter.Corby in the east Midlands is named the place with the highest proportion of homeowners at serious risk of losing the roof over their head.

House repossessions to rise in 2012 mortgage lenders warns

House repossessions are likely to rise again next year the Council of Mortgage lenders (CML) has warned.
In its updated outlook for the property market, it says repossessions will probably rise from 40,000 this year to 45,000 in 2012.

The number of mortgages approved for house purchases hit a new low in April Bank of England official figures show.At just 45,166, the number of new approvals was the lowest April figure since the Bank’s records began in 1992.

Mortgage lending fell 14% in April home loans lenders find

Mortgage lending fell back in April due to seasonal factors the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) has found.
The total amount of new funds lent fell by 14% from March to £9.8 billion and was down 5% from April last year.

House prices in England and Wales are still falling  according to the latest survey from the Land Registry.
It says the average property price fell by 1.1% in March to £160,996, leaving prices 2.3% lower than a year ago.
